Four priorities

Issues

The data center fight on our doorstep, plus the three priorities on the card at the door: Medicaid expansion, public transportation, and education.

Data Centers

Montana’s largest data center project is being built in Yellowstone County, next door to us. A project that size should have to make its case to the people who live here before it goes in.

  • A local voice, and a local vote. Roughly 15,000 people signed a petition asking for a say in data center development in this county, and the signatures were thrown out on a filing deadline the Legislature had quietly moved. Local government should be able to put a question like that to its own voters.
  • Water on the table before permits. Water use, water agreements, and who holds the rights should be public documents, not material hidden behind nondisclosure agreements.
  • Power bills. A load this large does not get to shift its costs onto the households and small businesses already on the system. If it needs new generation, it pays for new generation.
  • No special tax rate. In 2025 the Legislature extended a reduced property tax rate to power plants built to serve data centers. I would vote to end that break.
  • Lockwood first. Any promise about jobs, road use, or water for neighboring farms and ranches should be in writing and enforceable before construction starts.

Medicaid Expansion

I am running to expand Medicaid so that all people in Montana can afford healthcare.

Public Transportation

I am running to bring public transportation to HD 40, so everyone can easily get to work, the park, or the store.

Education

I am running to protect public education so all children in Montana can receive a free, quality education.
